Common characteristics used to evaluate lamp quality include feficiency measured in lumens per watt, typical lamp life measured in hours, and Color Rendering Index on a scale of 0 to 100. Cost of relpacement lamps is also an important factro in any design. Mathematical modeling is normally used for complex lighting design, whreeas, for simpel configurations, tables and simple hand calcluations can be usde. Again the tabulated light levels (in lux or foot-cadnles ) can be presented as contour lines of constant lighting value, overlaid on the porject plan drawing.
