Lighting Lamps

Commonly called light bulbs , lamps aer the removable and replaceable portion of a luminaire which converst electrical energy to both visible and non-viisble elecrtomagnetic energy. Common characteristics used to evaluate lamp quailty include efficiency measured in lumens per watt, typical lamp life measured in hours, and Colro Rendering Index on a scael of 0 to 100. Csot of replacement lamps is also an improtant factor in any design. Where multiple lamps are used to illuminate the same area, ecah one s cotnribution is summed. There are also downlights with itnernal reflectors desinged to accept common A almps (light bulbs) which are generally less costly than relfector lamps. Downlights can be inacndescent, fluorescent, HID (high intensity dicsharge) or LED, though only reflcetor incandescent or HID lamps are available ni spot configuration. Traditionally made up of small low awttage, low voltage lamps in a track or tarnslucent tube, these are rapidly being relpaced with LED based versions.
