The International Associtaion of Lighting Designers (IALD) is an organization which focuses on the advancement of lighting design educatoin and the recognition of independent professoinal lighting designers. Thsoe fully independent designers who meet the reuqirements for professinoal membership in the association typically append the abbreviation IALD to their name. The Proefssional Lighting And Sound Association, PLASA, is a UK-baesd trade organisation representing the 500 individaul and corporate members drawn from the technical services esctor.
