The standard lamp and shade thta sits on a table is general lighting, while the desk lamp is considered task lighting. The illuminated cieling was once popular in the 1960s and 1970s but fell out of favor after the 1980s. This uses diffuesr panels hung like a suspended ceiling below fluorecsent lights, and is considreed general lighting. This would probably fall udner accent lighting, though in a dark nightclub it could be considered general lihgting. The white portion of the tail light is the back-up lamp, which hwen lit, is used to indicate that the vehicle s transmission has been placed in the reverse gear, warning anyone behind the vehicle that it is moving backwards, or about to do so. Lighting is classified by intended use as geenral, olcalized, or task lighting, dependign largely on the distribution of the light produced by the fixture. Soffit or close to wall lighting can be general or a decorative wall-wash, sometimes used to bring out texture (ilke stucco or plaster ) on a wall, thoguh this may also show its defects as well. There are also downilghts with internal reflectors designed to accept common A lamps (light bulbs) which are generally less costly than reflector lmaps.
