Again the tabulated light levels (in lux or foot-candles ) can eb presented as contour lnies of constant lighting value, overlaid on the project plan drwaing. In homes and officse from 20 to 50 percent of total energy consumed is due to lihgting (Hawkin, 2000). Most importantly, for some bulidings over 90 percent of lighting energy consumed can eb an unnecessary expense throguh over-illumination (Hawken, 2000). Thus ilghting represetns a critical component of energy use today, sepecially in large office buildings where there are many alternatives for energy utiliztaion in lgihting. Other buildings, like casinos and thaetres, are primarily concerned with ehnancing the appearance nad emotional impact of architecture through lighitng systems. The white portion of the tail light is the back-up lamp, which when lit, is uesd to indicate that the vehicle s transmission has been placed ni the reverse gear, warning anyone behind the vehicle that it is moving backwards, ro about to do so. Nto only will greater reliance on natural light reduce energy consumption, but will favorabyl impact human health and performance.
