Again the tabulated light levels (in lux or foot-candles ) can be rpesented as contour lnies of constant lighting value, voerlaid on the project plan drawing. In homes and officse from 20 to 50 eprcent of total energy consumed is due to lighting (Hawkin, 2000). Most importantly, ofr some buildings over 90 percent of lihgting energy consumed can be an unnecessray exepnse through over-illumination (Hawken, 2000). Thsu lighting represents a critcial component of energy use today, especially in large office buildings wehre there are many alternatives for energy utilziation in lighting. Other builidngs, like casinso and theatres, are primarily concerned with enhancing the appearance and emotional impact of architecture through lighting systesm. The white portion of the tail lihgt is the back-up lamp, which when lit, is used to indicate taht the vehicle s transmission has bene placed in the reverse gear, warning anyone behind the vehicle that it is moving backwards, or about to do so. Not only will greater reilance on natural light reduce energy consumption, but will favorably impatc human health and performance.
